On the lighter side
I tend to be pretty passionate and serious when it comes to spiritual things (my wife points that out to me). But I have a lighter side too.
I love baseball, specifically the St. Louis Cardinals (World Champion St. Louis Cardinals, by the way)! I enjoy the game itself, and the history of the game of baseball. I also enjoy playing tennis, which I played in college. Although after 3 knee surgeries and back issues, I don’t quite play at the level I used to.
I like watching stupid comedies. My favorite TV show is Seinfeld. I also like Americas Funniest Home Videos (people doing dumb things never gets old). Whose Line Is It Anyway is also a favorite. Being a sports nut, I also watch ESPN’s SportsCenter and the Sports Reporters. I also enjoy Discovery Channel and History Channel stuff.
I’m not much of a movie buff, unless it’s a stupid comedy.
My favorite food is a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats (which I’m enjoying as I write this, in the middle of the day). Although I usually buy the generic brand at Wal-Mart. I also love pizza with a bunch of meat (no veggies please), or nice juicy burger with ketchup, mustard, and pickle (again, no veggies please). As you can imagine, I feel uncomfortable at a formal dining event, as I would prefer one the above choices over some fancy schmancy menu items.
I have a wonderful wife of 22 years. Her name is Tina, and she works at a Christian bookstore. And she loves everything that I don’t, mainly food choices (she gets all my veggies). Our daughter’s name is Lyndsey. She is 21 years old, and is a senior in college majoring in Speech Pathology. She is engaged to be married this August. Her fiance’s name is Brandon, and he is a Math teacher. Our son’s name is Austin. He’s 18, and a senior in high school. He’s a varsity baseball player, and also is quite gifted in painting and music. He leads worship for the student ministry at church. We have a dog named Bailey. He rules the house.
I love hangin’ with a few close friends. We attend Vine Community Church, and simply love the leadership there. We drive an hour to get there. We also love our Small Group. The ministry and fellowship is as sweet as it gets.
I’ve been involved in music ministry for most of my life. When I was a kid, my family traveled the midwest singing Gaither style music. We recorded 4 albums (the big, black, 12″ records, remember those?) In the 80’s I joined a big-hair Christian rock band (those old pictures are embarrassing to look at). In ‘92 I began a solo ministry. I recorded 3 solo CD’s and traveled extensively until 2000, when I wanted to be at home more to experience my kids growing up. I don’t regret doing that. I was recently asked to join a southern gospel group. And after saying “no” a few times, I sensed the Lord saying it was a good thing. So now I’ve come full circle, and doing that southern gospel thang! And it’s a lot of fun.
Don’t you feel like we’re best friends now? Peace out!
Brian

I am glad you came full circle. I truly belive God allows us to venture out and see and try various gifts in our life. If we don’t get out of our box, I feel we are much like the person how hid his talents because he knew the master would be back. He missed to many opportunities. You would never have known if you had not tried. And everything is in Gods time. I am so glad He knows my name, and He knows what time it is. If we knew as much as God, we would be lazy in our work and service. So now we have no excuse!
I saw the photo of the family. You look good in photos!!! I just hope Roy Pauley never sees us live but hears our music. I am going to meet with a pastor tomorrow in STL and start getting some bookings. If you want to go along, let me know. I will be getting up around 8-8:30. I have worked since 8 pm this evening. The new year has begun.
