The Whirlwind…a new beginning

I sit here this evening wondering how the next several days will play out. Things are a whirlwind around the Fuller house these days, and come August 15th things will drastically change.

Our daughter’s wedding is now just 3 short days away, and the final preparations are in full swing, with wedding stuff (candles, plastic ware, dresses, decorations, honeymoon stuff, etc.) lying all over the house. We wake up in the morning and each go our separate way to check off another item from the “to do” list. So step one of this whirlwind is the wedding.

Three days after the wedding (next Tuesday) I drive my son Austin to southern California for college. This would be step two of the whirlwind. It wouldn’t be quite as hectic if he could’ve registered for classes in the Spring like most colleges. But for some reason things are a little different in The Golden State. New students couldn’t sign up for classes until July 30th, which was yesterday. And signing up for classes in Illinois for a college in California has been a little on the inconvenient side. But we accomplished the registration process, so now we’re just hoping that we’re where we need to be for the big move.

It’s a two-and-a-half days drive out there, and I’ll be staying out there with him for a few more days just to make sure things are in order. Then I fly back home on August 14th.

At this point, Tina has been home alone for a whole week to ponder the next stage of our lives together; a life where our kids have spread their wings and taken flight. I have a tremendous peace about our kids. If you’ve read this blog before, you’ve read how proud we are of them. They love Jesus, and are deeply committed to Him. Each of them will make a tremendous impact for God’s Kingdom, and we simply have to let go and let God finish the work that He began in them, because He is faithful.

So August 15th is just a couple of weeks away…

…a new chapter begins.

One Response to “The Whirlwind…a new beginning”

  1. I can only imagine what you & Tina are going through this week. As a mother, I know this is so hard on her but knowing that God has things all worked out is most important. As you spoke at the reception, I thought of several things…first ~ how blessed you have been to have a great family that loves the Lord and second ~ how gifted you are in speaking about the Lord. Even as we read your thoughts on this journal, I think of how well you convey the message. I know that before you joined the group that many things were happening & I wonder now if God has you in the group so you can go out & minister at every concert instead of just preaching at a church every Sunday. I’m excited to see how God will use you in the future. Know that my prayers are with you both as you begin this new chapter!! :)
